Consistency in management, is an essential path, both internally and externally.

Firstly, it plays a fundamental role in business communication. Secondly, it is critical for “inside” the organization. People must know where they are going. Thirdly, know what the vision is, and most importantly, the direction and the goals that guide the company’s strategy. Lastly, understand the reason for the strategic options, understand the meaning of decisions that might impact them.

Change

Let’s focus on change management process. It can be highly disruptive for an organization and it should be duly managed. Deep restructuring will impact people. They must, therefore, know what the reasons are. And know how those can negatively impact them. Or even benefit them individually. As a result, resistance must be managed with clear communication, therefore on a transparent view of what will “happen next”.

Promise

Sharing the vision will be a promise, hence a message that explains what and why, but also how, to ensure impact control. Here comes consistency: the leader must ensure that the promise is fulfilled. Above all, nothing worse than a bad surprise, associated with change on a process previously explained.

Consistency

Consistency should guide each moment in management. Do not defend something and implement its opposite. Moreover, do not set a path today, and opt for a different one tomorrow.

We live in a time when people are, more than ever, the fundamental assets of a company. In conclusion, keeping them aligned and involved, is “half way” for a successful operation.
